Treasurer Scott Recht
Scott Recht was born in Steubenville, Ohio and was raised by Jewish parents in Weirton, WV in a Conservative Jewish household. He attended the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh, which was about 55 minutes away from his home and graduated from there. He went on to Gallaudet College (now University) and earned both Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Business Administration. He went to work for IBM in Tarrytown, NY and continued to be employed for the same company but at three different locations, including Bethesda, Gaithersburg, and Rockville, for most of his career.
After IBM’s Federal Systems Division was bought first by Loral and then in later years by Lockheed Martin, Scott ended up working for three different companies as an accountant for 19 years. He was employed by Kramer Financial in Germantown, MD and Frederick, MD. as a financial analyst and PAI in Bethesda, MD as a staff accountant. After working as a part time adjunct faculty member at Gallaudet for four years and one year as a faculty member on IBM’s Faculty Loan Program, he was offered to teach under a temporary contract as a full time adjunct professor to teach accounting courses for two years. Now retired after 38 years, he lives in Chevy Chase, MD with his wife, Jaime. They have two grown sons.
This is Scott’s second stint as a treasurer of Washington Society of Jewish Deaf. He looks forward to helping the Washington Society of Jewish Deaf in different ways.
